Has change management become harder?

It was a question posed to me recently by a CEO going through a digital transformation

The rationale for the question was based on the gap between technology change and human change widening.

Technology change is exponential whereas human change remains linear.

Whilst factually correct, it reinforces the importance of hiring and assessing leaders correctly for transformation programmes.

The technology itself only gets you so far. We all generally have access to the same tech but it’s the people and leadership that make change programmes a success.

This places so much emphasis on identifying and, particularly, assessing leaders’ suitability for digital transformation and other change programmes.
