Company culture. Is it all ping-pong tables and baskets of free fruit?

Stephen Bartlett doesn’t think so.

In a recent interview, he said his absolute obsession with culture guides all hiring (and some firing) decisions.

How does culture translate to hiring?

I believe that if each step in the interview process projects a consistent ethos towards the importance placed on company culture, it’s a very powerful tool for attracting the best people.

Companies need to walk their cultural talk. If not, they risk new hires experiencing a ‘gear crunch’ during an onboarding process which means losing top talent.

Incorporating a further layer of rigour to determine cultural fit can be helpful, such as a data-led, behavioural insights assessment provided by sister company NewlandRock.
